Pak Intent, Alleged HR Violations and High Officer Casualties in J&K

Lt Gen Ata Hasnain (R) and I had a discussion in detail on the current state of affairs in J&K. The Pakistan intent is pretty clear. It is to carry out high profile ambushes and killings to keep the proxy war fire going with extremely well trained terrorists using the difficult terrain astride Pir Panjals. Their intent is to reignite sentiment against any kind of political normalisation. They could be using Pak regulars for this. The time from now to the elections will see more attempts to create high profile incidents. Our forces need to be mindful and react accordingly with a back to basics approach whose centre of gravity must be winning hearts and minds of people.
