PM Modi and Russian President Putin speak on the phone about Ukraine. Both leaders further discussed about strengthening the strategic partnership between both the countries. According to a statement from the Kremlin, in Russia, PM Modi expressed understanding and support for the decisive actions of the Russian leadership to protect law and order, ensure stability in the country, and ensure the security of its citizens.

This came ahead of the virtual Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit to be hosted by India on July 4. The meeting is expected to be joined by the leaders of China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Iran will be admitted as the ninth member of the SCO at the summit.
