PM Modi to sign contracts for the purchase of three new Kalveri class submarines to be built at Mumbai’s Mazagon Dockyards as well as 26 Rafale-Marine fighters for INS Vikrant. PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron will unveil a bilateral Indo-Pacific road map that outlines concrete actions to guarantee freedom of navigation and marine security for sea routes in the region that is being contested by a rising China. Reportedly, India and France will sign a defense-industrial road map during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Paris on July 13–14. This will encourage India to increase the production of hardware platforms using indigenous developed engines and technologies. South Block is mum about the defence deals that will be signed during PM Modi’s visit.
