Major General Deepinder Singh retired as the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor (Dean), College of Materials Management of the Indian Army with an experience of over three and half decades in the areas of operational logistics, human resource management, resource planning, program development, budgeting as well as training. He has planned and implemented logistics support to the Indian Army in both its Northern and Eastern Theatres, and also planned and implemented infrastructure development projects in the Counter-Insurgency sensitive Northern theatre, where he was responsible for an annual budget of INR 85 crores.
He is technology-driven with a track record of working in automated environments and holds expertise in techno-commercial negotiations, preparing contract documents & cost estimates. He was among the first officers to conceive, design and implement the Computerized Inventory Control Project (C.I.C.P.), the present Online Inventory Management and Control System of the Indian Army which manages inventory for more than 2 lakh vehicles and equipment. He designed and developed the prototype Data Retrieval and Management Information System for Ministry of Defence and Army HQ, the design on which the present Management Information System of CICP rests.
Maj Gen Deepinder Singh holds degrees of Master of Business Administration (Materials) and Master in Management Studies, is a Certified Networks Engineer from Novell Inc. U.S.A., and can work on Application Development and Solution Architecture Projects. He has been a Faculty in the Dept of Computer Technology, and later the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor (Dean) of the College of Materials Management. He is an Alumnus, and presently a visiting faculty, of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade ( IIFT), New Delhi. He enjoys teaching and is proficient at imparting training through LMS platforms MOODLE and Open Edx.
He is a keen guitarist and song writer, likes listening to soft rock and blues, and occasionally pens down poetry.
