Barkha Dutt LIVE: Indian Navy’s marine commandos rescued 21 crew members, including 15 Indians, from a bulk carrier in the North Arabian Sea.

Navy tweeted videos of the ship saying, “Indian Navy’s Swift Response to the Hijacking Attempt of MV Lila Norfolk in the North Arabian Sea. All 21 crewonboard safely evacuated from the citadel. Sanitisation by MARCOs has confirmed absence of the hijackers.”

Navy further said that the attempt of hijacking by the pirates was probably abandoned with the forceful warning by the Navy MPA of interception by Indian Naval warship.

INS Chennai is in the vicinity of MV and rendering support to restore the power generation & propulsion, and commence her voyage to next port of call.

This comes days after the attack on MV Chem Pluto, a cargo vessel carrying crude oil from Saudi Arabia, which was targeted in a drone attack allegedly by Houthi militants by a drone off India’s west coast when it was on its way to New Mangalore port. 20 Indian and Vietnamese crew were onboard the merchant ship. No one was injured in the attack.
